Because of the way that I listen to music and largely curate my own experience via playlists, I don’t often find myself listening to whole albums. But some of them are very good all the way through! Here are some albums I’ve been enjoying recently as wholes greater than the sum of their parts. Take a shot every time I use the word “love” or “best” or “favorite.”
Lomelda was the first show I saw this year. “Hannah Sun” shaped my 2020 in ways that I’m still deciphering now. I really love how cohesive this album reads; listen in order.
I loved all the singles from this album as they were coming out and the full release did not disappoint. I’ve used every song on this album on playlists and I wish there were hundreds more.
I just saw Christian Lee Hutson on Monday, a real dream come true for someone who listens to Beginners (2020) on six hour loops pretty regularly. I am so enamored by his songwriting, the storytelling, the humor in the really dark moments.
