Sometimes a song just pops into your head, apropos of nothing, and you have to listen to it fifteen times in a row in your car at midnight doing nothing but staring out at the street, feeling weird in an unplaceable way, totally unable to leave the car to go upstairs and go to sleep. It just happens sometimes!
I saw a Zane Lowe interview with King Princess in which she divulges that Mark (Ronson I presume? I refuse to do any research for Currently) got Taylor Hawkins, the legendary Foo Fighters drummer who died earlier this year, to play on “Let Us Die.” King Princess’ album Hold On Baby (2022) is disappointing in so many ways, but this feature broke something inside of me; is this the last song Hawkins ever put hands on? I really hope King Princess is just having a sophomore slump, because the artists that she has access to cannot be made to play on bad songs anymore. I won’t stand for it.
