Listening to this record feels like that pumpkin loaf TikTok trend, wherein I beg god for another Radiohead record and get A Light For Attracting Attention (2022) instead. Why they’re working on this side project that sounds just like their main project is beyond me, but I’ll take what I can get. This album is great, and I will begrudgingly accept it as my consolation prize.
I remembered suddenly that Fiona Apple existed this week. I remember the day that Fetch The Bolt Cutters (2020) came out, the strangely way I was excited to feel so devastated. That seems to be Fiona Apple’s specialty; she creates worlds within the unpleasant parts of life that are so beautifully crafted, you almost forget that they are built around pain. She’s totally original, in every era. She purportedly doesn’t listen to any music besides her own when she’s writing a new record. Could never be me, but I love her for it. This song is so good:
