Sob Rock (2021) is a weirdly good album. It’s a late career record for John Mayer, and it’s incredibly corny—the title itself is a self-referential nod to the dad rock genre for which John Mayer became the poster boy. You want to hate it, but you can’t—the hooks are too infectious, the lyrics are too vanilla to offend the ears. I PRed the other day listening to Sob Rock.
