Longtime readers of Record Store will know that I became friends with my hero Madeline Kenney by approaching her after a set she played at Outside Lands (punisher behavior) and asking her to listen to my demos (extreme punisher behavior). Somehow it all worked out: we’re bffs and the songs we worked on are actually coming out soon on BL3—a real full circle moment, even as we navigate long distance friendship as she pursues her next dream in Portland, Oregon.
She inspires me endlessly. I tell her in this interview that I love her mind, and truer words have never been spoken. I can’t think of a better first guest to have on this new interview format, where we make ten song playlists and use turntable to annotate them.
